TOLEDO, Ohio – Sylvania resident Jim Perlman registered to rappel at Over the Edge for Victory on June 10th. By the end of July, he single-handedly raised over $12,000 in donations for The Victory Center. This is the largest fundraising effort by an individual since the inception of TVC’s signature event in 2017.
Jim, along with 85 others, will descend 16-stories down the side of the ProMedica building located at 300 Madison Ave. in downtown Toledo on Friday, September 9th; all to support local cancer patients.
The area’s only local rappelling fundraiser is seeing other big numbers in its 6th year, as well. Registration is up 65% from this time last year. Presenting Sponsor, ProMedica Cancer Institute and Landing Zone Sponsor, ThermaTru are just a couple of the many local organizations that have contributed to the highest sponsorship total of all time for a single Victory Center event. Not to mention, the outpouring of local support for teams of rappellers who are honoring family and friends who are going through cancer. WTOL is, once again, providing emcees who will read short bios of each rappeller as they make their way down.
Over the Edge for Victory is an exciting event in which ‘edgers’ commit to raising a minimum of $1,000 in exchange for the opportunity to rappel. Onsite training is provided by a professionally certified team with an excellent safety record in events across the country. TVC holds the exclusive rights to license this type of fundraiser in a four-county area.

NEW THIS YEAR: A Mystery Rappeller will be joining the ranks of other thrill-seekers on Friday, September 9th. This unidentified individual will be revealed piece-by-piece in a social media campaign driven by donations.
A VIP Launch party on Thursday, September 8th will feature grazing stations from Souk, Fowl & Fodder, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Village Patisserie, Chick fil A, Table Forty 4, Dollop Shop, Glass City Cupcakes, and Cookiecuterie. A VIP tent on Friday, September 9th will feature lounge chairs from Highland Meadows, misting fans, box lunches from Chick fil A, and chair massages by The Victory Center’s oncology trained therapists.
The Imagination Station, Laurel’s Princess Parties, Bird’s Eye View Circus, University of Toledo Athletics, Deet’s, Lyle’s Crepes, and Mayberry Ice Cream will be on hand for food and entertainment over the course of the 2-day event.
The Victory Center was founded in 1996 to support and educate cancer patients and those closest to them by providing programs and services aimed at meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those touched by cancer. Services are provided at no cost to patients, and all donations are fully tax deductible.
